Questions sent by interested future readers:
Q: What genre would you say “Almanecer” falls into?
Michael Troy Knedel (author): As you can see by the synopsis, there’s definitely a sci-fi element to the book, but to label it as such would be an injustice. This book calls into question human psychology, organized religion, and our purpose and place in the universe.
Q: What inspired you to write it?
A: I’ve always had a fascination with cutting edge medicine, and trying to predict how it might change the future of mankind. Having been raised in a very religious household, these two schools of thought collided, & it is out of this collision that the book was conceived.
Q: What does the title “Almanecer” mean?
A: A lot of people think I meant to title the book “Amanecer”, which is Spanish:Latin for “the dawning of” or “to dawn” and has the dual meaning of “to awaken” or the “awakening”. I slipped the “L” into the title because “alma” means soul, and together it creates a new word, which to me means “the dawning/awakening of the soul”. This to me perfectly describes Calvin’s [the main character in "Almanecer"] journey as depicted in the book.
